【Jiangxi】Jingdezhen Ancient Kiln

21    2025-07-28

In Changjiang District, this 5A site is the world’s only theme park dedicated to porcelain culture. It reconstructs historic kilns: Song Dynasty "dragon kilns" (sloped like a serpent), Yuan "mantou kilns" (high-temperature blue-white porcelain), and Qing egg-shaped kilns. Artisans demonstrate 72 steps of ceramic-making—from wheel throwing to underglaze painting. Foreign visitors can shape clay themselves (50 yuan) or see the "Porcelain Mother" in the museum: a Qianlong-era vase fusing 17 firing techniques.

Admission is 95 yuan (half-price for students). Taxi from Jingdezhen Airport takes 15 minutes. Tip: ① Attend kiln-opening ceremonies at 10:30 am/2:30 pm; ② Wear dark clothes for pottery classes—clay splatters; ③ Buy creative ceramics at Taoxichuan Art Market downtown; ④ Visit Yaoli Ancient Town (1-hour drive), the source of cobalt for blue-white porcelain.
